Tea is my beverage of choice aside from water, and Tetley is the brand that I purchase most often. So naturally I was excited to be selected as one of the Home Tester Club members who would test and review the three Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Tea blends which were inspired by Ayurveda.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a 5000 year old system of knowledge which teaches us that it is essential for our holistic well-being to balance our mind, body and spirit.
Tetley worked with Ayurveda experts to craft these three blends of Ayurvedic Balance Tea.
Benefits of Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Tea blends

- Ingredients approved by an Ayurvedic Practitioner
My product test kit arrived with three different blends of Ayurvedic Balance Tea:
- Poise-Vata is a calming tea which helps you focus when you’re feeling worried or scatter-brained. This warming blend of tea combines spicy cinnamon, camomile with zesty orange peels.
- Cool-Pitta is a cooling tea to help you calm down when you’re feeling overheated. This cooling blend combines peppermint, a twist of lemon from lemon balm and has a hibiscus floral finish.
- Vigour-Kapha is an invigorating tea to help you feel less sluggish. This invigorating tea blend combines ginger, spearmint and Tulsi.
Each packet contained 2 tea bags and a $1 off coupon towards the purchase each blend.
Now to start testing the teas…
Product Test #1 – Tetley Vigour-Kapha Ayurvedic Balance Tea
I started my product test with Vigour-Kapha, on a morning that I woke up feeling tired and sluggish. I drink all types of tea plain without any sugar or milk. I let the bag steep in my cup for a couple of minutes before I removed it. However, you don’t have to take the bag out, that’s my preference.
I found Vigour-Kapha tea to have a pleasant taste. The main flavour is a ginger blend followed by a hint of mint. The subtle mint taste is the perfect combination and doesn’t dominate the tea flavour. There’s other flavours too, including clove, turmeric, tulsi and cumin but I personally cannot taste them over the ginger and spearmint.
As a drinker of decaffeinated tea and coffee, I was excited to learn that Vigour-Kapha is decaffeinated along with the other Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Teas. I noticed a slight uplifting feeling as I finished about a third of my cup of tea and by the time I finished my cup I felt more energized and ready to take on the day.
I really enjoyed the taste and the stimulation of energy I got from this blend. I will certainly buy Tetley Vigour-Kapha to help balance me out on days when I can’t seem to get moving.
Product Test #2 – Tetley Cool-Pitta Ayurvedic Balance Tea
I tested the Tetley Cool-Pitta Ayurvedic Balance Tea on a morning that I woke up feeling hot and sweaty from hot flashes. I only steeped the tea bag for a minute or two so I wouldn’t have a powerful peppermint tea, I wanted to be able to taste the other flavours too. Next time I’m going to let it steep for the recommended 3-5 minutes.
I only drink tea plain and never add milk or sugar, which is great because I’m not adding empty calories to my diet. Tetley Cool-Pitta Ayurvedic Balance tea is an all-natural zero-calorie beverage, that’s also caffeine-free; which is a definite win-win for me.
I noticed that I felt cooler and more ‘balanced’ after drinking only about 1/3 of my cup. This helped me become focused quicker than the other mornings I wake up from hot flashes. To get the same effect I got from 1/3 of a cup of Cool-Pitta tea, I would normally jump into a cool shower! By the time I finished my cup I was ready to take on the day as refreshed me!
I found that Cool-Pitta tea has a dominant peppermint/spearmint flavour with a slight undertone of hibiscus, lavender and lemon balm. I personally didn’t notice the coriander flavour. The combination of these flavours is light and refreshing and quite delightful. There was a slight but pleasant floral aftertaste when I was done drinking my tea.
Contrary to my thoughts before trying Cool-Pitta (I thought the mint taste would be over-powering and I wouldn’t particularly care for it); I really enjoyed this tea blend. Am I going to continue drinking Cool-Pitta? You betcha!
Product Test #3 – Tetley Poise-Vata Ayurvedic Balance Tea
I’ve been trying to keep my stress levels in-check, so Tetley Poise-Vata Ayurvedic Balance Tea was the last of the three teas I tested.
Poise-Vata tea is a calming blend to help you focus when you’re feeling scatter-brained, stressed or worried. The tea had a calming effect and made me feel more mellow before I finished half a cup. I didn’t even realize before having the cup of tea that I wasn’t in balance. I drank it before making dinner and I felt like relaxing rather than cooking. I probably would drink this later in the evening because of the camomile in it and I want to stay productive in the early evening. The calming effect from the tea lasted well over two hours for me. I think this would be a great tea to drink before bed.
I found the taste of the tea was dominated by camomile flavour. It was light, not overly floral with a cinnamon undertone and a pleasant orange aftertaste. I let the tea bag steep for 4 minutes before removing it and drank it plain, without milk or sugar. I enjoyed the taste of Poise-Vata and would buy this blend as well.
Which Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Tea do I like best?
I enjoyed all three blends of Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Teas and found each helped “balance” out the areas they focus on. My favourite of the three blends is Vigour-Kapha because I love the taste combination of ginger and mint. It’s so refreshing, delicious and uplifting.
My tea of choice is black tea but I also enjoy trying other varieties too; because like they say “variety is the spice of life!” I’m definitely going to use the coupons I received and stock my pantry with these three Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Teas.
Disclosure: I received the Tetley Ayurvedic Balance Teas for free from Home Tester Club for the purpose of testing and reviewing the product, however the opinions and views expressed are 100% my own.
